I am absolutely exhausted after a wonderful weekend.
On Friday night Mary (the MP that I am working for...MP=member of Parliament) took me out to dinner and to the theatre with a few of her Friends. We went to dinner at a lovely little restaurant where I had salmon that was delicious. Then we went to see Wicked. Seriously, Wicked was so great. It put such a huge smile on my face and now I finally know what all of the fuss is about. I thought that it was going to be a bit juvenile but it totally was not. I would see that play over and over again. I was so thankful to Mary for taking me out and showing me a great time. It was so much fun.
Well I didn't get home till late, and I had to pack my bags and get ready to leave town EARLY the next morning. Because I live a fair ways away from down town, I have to normally leave the house at 7 am on the weekends to make it down town at an early enough time to get breakfast or in this case catch a train to Philip Island. The transport to Philip Island was just great. We caught a train then transferred to a bus that took us to Cowes (the main city on Philip Island). The transport took about three hours. We arrived at about 1pm on Saturday and got back into the city at 7pm on Sunday, a quick but awesome trip.
I am going to be posting different blogs about the trip during the next couple of days because I took lots of pictures. Saddest part of the trip was the fact that there were no pictures to be taken of the little penguins :( They were so so cute.
I am going to be posting pictures of the Hostel we stayed in, Fish and Chips, The Beach, Penguin experience, scenery, koalas and the Wallaby! Stay tuned and I will get to it asap...
Love you all!
Dear Samantha,
ReplyDeletewhat fun! But I wish I could have viewed the Penquins. Oh well, you can't have everything just like you want it.
My Birthday was one of the most special days of my life. Lewis and Barbara flew in from Texas just for my party and Uncle Wan(my mom's brother drove up from Las Vegas for my party. Plus all my kids except John and Larry. Ada Marie and Betsy put a scrap book together about my life and it is priceless. I can't wait for you to see it. My kids gave me a special CD called "My Hidden Island" narrated by David Jansen. My old record was so scratched and worn.
I'm sure if you heard it you would remember it.
I must have played it aat least a million times since I got it about 40 years ago. I love it.
I am so grateful for my family and my parents and so many friends in my life and especially YOU! My Birthday celebration was worth the 80 years I spent waiting for it.
I am so glad your mom is going to stay for a couple of days.
Love, Grandma Rose
Hi, Sam, Keep coming with the fun stuff about your trip. I am so glad you had a fun time and got safely back. It sounds like you are doing a lot of fun things and that work is going well also. I love hearing from you. Kennedie and Mckinlie left for a 2 day science camp today and Jon will arrive tomorrow to take Kennedie to a different spot on the mountain for girls camp. It has been fun having them here as usual and as usual I am dreading the end of the fun next week. Love you lots, Thanks for staying in touch and keeping me up to date with your life. Grandma
ReplyDeleteWe loved Wicked when it came to Columbus! I have not enjoyed any other Broadway theater, but that was a great show!
ReplyDeleteSounds like Mary is really trying to impress her American intern. :)
