Australia v. Japan.

Kate and I got tickets to this soccer game and we had the greatest time. It was held at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds that holds 100,000 people! It was such a magical stadium... it oozed the sports spirit that Melbourne has. We were so impressed that we are going to go again! Next time we are going to go see the Bombers v. the Magpies (Australian Football League) with our friend Tom. We are super excited for that!

We were told that we needed to have a meat pie at the stadium sort of like having a hot dog or cracker jacks at a baseball game. We did. We wished we had not. Gross. :)

It was a great night and just one more wonderful thing we have experienced here in Australia.

Pictures: We got there pretty early, so there is one shot of the stadium looking very empty...70,000 people ended up attending! The fire looking thing is a flare torch of some sort, when Australia scored people would light them in the audience.

  2. Dear Sam,

Just talked with you and that always makes my day so much better.

The soccer game must have been exciting. 70,000 people that is almost twice the population of Cedar.

Sorry that the meat pie was a dissapointment. That is probably the first food that you've had that wasn't delicious. Ther is a first time for everything.

Well I've got to put my Yummy Patatoes in the oven.

I love you more than you'll ever know.

    Love, Grandma Rose

That sounds like a great experience! Beats the pants off the measley 5,000 to 10,000 that show up for an MLS game here in the States.
