When we arrived in Cowes we headed to our hostel. I had found this place on the web and I have not stayed in a hostel since I went to Boston (Allison- remember that creepy doll lamp...eeeewww). Needless to say I was a bit hesitant to be in a Hostel environment again but I am trying to conserve as much money as possible so I decided to try it out. Good thing... that place was awesome! It was so so so clean, Kate and I had our own room and It was really cheap. It was totally camp ground style with little cabins surrounding the grounds. In fact, Philip Island reminded me a lot of West Yellowstone in the way that they both have a cute little down town area, outside of a huge tourist attraction and then there are little cabins and summer houses tucked away in all of the trees. It was really lovely. The most memorable thing about this hostel was this sign that was in the bathroom. I guess its pretty typical here but I have never heard of anything like it. So as you should know, most of Australia is in a terrible drought and has been for some time. Example of this would be the crazy bush fires this last spring. Well in the hostel bathroom, inside the shower was a bucket. The sign read: please save you water, if you are showering and washing your hair or soaping up, let the excess water drop into the bucket and when you are finished please go water the garden! Isn't that CRAZY! I think its a great idea :)
Here are a few pictures of the place and you will see a kitty lying on top of the fire place, that damn cat had the best seat in the house. So toasty and warm.
I am so glad to see you have not forgotten about our paradise in West Yellowstone! We will miss you dearly when we go in a few weeks.
